DAY 2 (page 2 of 2): Sunday, August 9, 2009

The kayaks arrive at Seeley's Bay for lunch.

< back | day 3 >

Welcome back to our ninth consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!

Once again "the ladies of The Rideau" have lunch prepared and waiting for our arrival at Seeleys Bay. Thank you ground crew...lunch was great. As soon as we got back on the water, it started to rain. The rain continued as we crossed Whitefish Lake, but stopped before we reached Jones Falls. This is the longest portage of the trip. By the time we reach the top of the hill beside the dam, we are 18 metres higher then we were. It's a good hike carrying a kayak!

After a brief rest we paddle across Sand Lake and stop for the night at Davis Locks. Ann Dionne has prepared tonight's dinner. Thank you Ann the chicken lasagna was great. After dinner some of the boaters asked us to join them in a parade. They got dressed up in costumes and we followed them from boat to boat where they told each boater they had a choice. Either give us a donation, or we're all coming aboard. We got a lot of donations.
