DAY 1 - Journal Entry: Saturday, August 7, 2004

by Micheline Dionne, Ground Crew

The fourth annual Kayaking for Cancer event kicked off to a great start ... again! Nineteen paddlers headed into Lake Ontario from Kingston, to make their way towards the Rideau Canal. The weather was beautiful with blue skies and calm waters ... and nobody tipped over!

This year, the kayakers are without their number one leader, Papron. Sadly, due to a back injury, Paparon is unable to paddle this year. No worries, he is well received by the Ground Crew. We welcome his laughter and sense of humour.

The team stopped at Kingston Mills for lunch and then made their way to Lower Brewers for dinner and their first over night stay. Rip and Laurie Brenno cooked up a delicious spaghetti dinner with caesar salad and dinner rolls. What a feast!
