Welcome back to our sixteenth consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!

So here we are on night two of our 5th consecutive trip down the Rideau.
When we started doing this trip 5 years ago, we only knew a handful of people who were a part of this, but it quickly became clear that this was more than just a random group- it was a family. On day one year one, we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel right at home.
Everyone on this trip does it for their own personal reasons, which over the 8 days of paddling, you are fortunate enough to hear those reasons. Everyone has a family member or friend in mind, but our efforts go further than just those individuals we start for. This becomes especially evident through the people we meet along our journey on the water.
Today when we paddled past a boat, they stopped and asked us what we were kayaking for. We told them about kayaking for cancer, and they informed us that today was their daughter's 15th birthday and she was a cancer survivor. As a group we sang happy birthday to her in the water, happy to celebrate this milestone with them.
Moments like this remind us why we love to come out here every summer, and will continue to come out and paddle for a cure.

Lots of love, Katrina and Chris
