Welcome back to our seventeenth consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!

KEEP CALM AND PADDLE ON

We are new to “Kayaking for Cancer.” Last year while visiting Newboro Lock we watched the group coming through the lock and stopping for lunch. Walking around we saw the touching photos and tributes on some of the kayaks. This was an inspiring moment for us. Cancer took our niece a young mother of three girls at the age of 37 and our family was devastated by her loss. This paddle was done in her honour as she loved the water and in particular the Rideau. It just seemed right. We joined the group with no expectations but it became a very memorable experience as we heard stories of joy and sorrow from paddlers and others we met along the way.
Fortunately the weather has been kind to us and the varied landscape we have passed is truly breathtaking. We really appreciated the daily camaraderie, encouragement and support from the team in making this journey.
“Put your paddle to the water and hope for the best.”
