Welcome back to our seventeenth
consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!
As I sit and reflect on my 16 years of paddling, there sure are quite a few changes for me personally that I have encountered. From graduating high school, to university, moving to Toronto and starting my career all while getting married and having two amazing children; there is always one thing that remains steady and that my friends is the word Cancer. It never ceases to amaze me that every year there is another person I can dedicate my paddle to. I’ve always lived by the saying “life is short so make the most of it” but over the 16 years I have kayaked these few words really are my inspiration to get up and do what I do each day on the water. Our small kayaking family has been able to pave the way for new research in Canada and most importantly give hope to those that have just sat in the chair hearing the words “it’s Cancer.” It goes without saying that my dedication to this fundraising event continues to grow as the news seems to never fade about those I know or love being diagnosed. Sometimes it is hard to feel like you are making an impact on those that might not know of our small group, but recognition isn’t what we are looking for out there on the water it’s, “showing those with cancer that we care and those we have lost that we will never forget them.” Look forward to seeing everyone in 2018! Kaleigh
