DAY 7 (page 2 of 2): Friday, August 17, 2018

Jim, B&H Grocer, and...

<back next >

Welcome back to our eighteenth consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!

We’ve reached the half way mark in our trek from Kingston to Ottawa. Someone said to me last night ‘I’m not looking forward to Saturday cause it means it’s the end’. Yes a few things have changed this year, a smaller group on the water and on the grounds crew, more sponsors providing meals but the spirit has not nor has the reason we do this. The stories told throughout this trip have not changed. Cancer is still out there and so many families are affected by it but deep in our hearts we feel we are making a difference.

The bond we create over this week is support for each and everyone of us going through it, gone through and for families who’s loved ones have gone through it and lost. We paddle for each and everyone. A special bond is created.

Yes day 8 is getting closer and our hearts a little heavier but we will leave one another knowing we will pick up next where we leave off this year.

“Our paddles will not cease until we’ve killed this beast”
