1:13 pm - Leaving Murphy's Point (Day 4)

Hello and welcome to Day 5 of Kayaking for Cancer! We've reached the half way point of our trip and things are going great! The weather is hot but beautiful and the kayakers are still lucky enough to have the wind at their backs.

This afternoon they're forecasting severe thunderstorms but we hope the good weather will hold out a little longer. This is the longest day of padding on the trip -- about 37 km -- so the kayakers opted for an early start around 8:30 am, heading through Smith Falls to Merrickville.

Last night we spent the night at Safari Marina in Rideau Ferry. A big thanks to Safari for use of their facilities -- especially the showers which were much appreciated by everyone!
